this is the portfolio of Elisabeth Eichhorn. I'm an interaction and interface designer from Berlin,
Germany.
The three sections below show my core competencies with corresponding work examples

I like to work in research environments and in multidisciplinary teams. The last conferences I attended were: TEI'10 (GSC), ACII'09 (demoed), TEI'09, SIDER'09 and MobileHCI'08 (short paper).

Interface and Interaction Design

Developing interfaces to manage data and communication is the most exciting field for a designer to work in today (at least in my humble opinion ;). Holding a M.A. in Interface Design I'm able to develop new ideas from concept level to physical or software prototypes.

Webdesign

Starting with an own website over ten years ago I developed my skills in designing and programming websites during my studies and work experience in web agencies. I offer concept, design and programming (in HTML and Flash).

Remote Intimacy

I was aiming at transmitting non-verbal communication for couples that live apart. To be more precise I was looking how to transmit caressing the hand of each other.
Therefore I developed and built two different prototypes that can transmit a feeling similar to a caress in real time.

The input is performed by a fondle gesture (prototype A) or a turning one (prototype B) on top of the device. Receiving a fondle from his partner works automatically when the user holds the device in his hand. He then feels a fondle movement in his palm that produced on the devices' bottom.

This project was also published as short paper at Mobile HCI 2008 in Amsterdam ("A stroking device for spatially separated couples").
